Hot Deals for Saigon Taekwang Jeongsan Golf Resort

Taekwang Jeongsan Country Club
18 holes par 72 (7502 yards)
Address: Ong Con Island, Dai Phuoc Commune, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai
Designed by Golfplan, Ron Fream

Taekwang Jeongsan Country Club is location on its own island in the Saigon River. Travel to the Ho Chi Minh City golf course requires golfers to travel out of the city on Vietnam’s main north-south highway and take a ferry across the Saigon River. All in it takes around 90 minute to reach the golf course from the main hotel districts in Ho Chi Minh City. Explore our best "Stay & Play Golf Vacation Packages"

The 18-hole Korean owned course was developed by Ron Fream’s Golfplan Company from the USA.  The out and back layout is typical of top resort courses. The tips stretch out to over 7500 yards, but there are forward tees for those looking for a more relaxed round of golf.

Heavy bunkering on most holes of this otherwise flattish land adds interest and enjoyment throughout the golf course and poses challenges even for the most serious professional golfers. Wall-to-wall Paspalum grassed fairways, greens, and tees insure good conditions and favorable ball lies.

The front nine plays along the river with some excellent views to the right of several holes. Holes 9 and 18 are the two signature holes with 9 being a long par-4 and 18 being a dogleg par-5. Both play right to the clubhouse so make sure to play the correct green. Both holes share a bunker between the number 9 green (left) and number 18 green (right). Playing on the Out (Sun Course) and In (Moon Course) ends up a very overall enjoyable day out golfing in Saigon.

The massive clubhouse forms the anchor for residential and commercial areas, which are off to the side of the Jeongsan course. Inside the clubhouse golfers will find elaborate locker rooms with spa facilities, two restaurants serving local and Korean favorites, and a well-stocked pro shop.

Insider's Tip: for Ho Chi Minh City golf visitors there is a speed boat service from the pier in District 1. This is very convenient and speeds the commute time to Jeongsan only 30 minutes. Book this service and golf at Jeongsan Country Club will be even better than using the highway/ferry.

Saigon Twin Doves Golf Resort

Twin Doves Golf Club
27 holes par 72/36 (7282 yards)
Address: Phu Hoa, Thu Dau Mot, Binh Duong City

Exclusive well-maintained members course
Twin Doves offers a 27-hole international standard championship members golf course. Located around 1 hour outside Saigon, the Twin Doves woodland and lake styled course is broken into 3 nines named Luna, Mare, and Sole.

With the views of the rural Vietnam scenery the Luna Course is characterized by many small hills and neighboring forests. This course has combined all the natural shapes of the land which are utilized as challenging hazards. Five of the holes are connected by rolling hills and the rest are separated by  tree-lined fairways.

The Mare Course is more natural with all holes flanked by creeks and trees. However, don’t let the natural feeling fool you into a sense of complacency. Accurate shot making is critical to score well. Most of the greens are multi-tiered and guarded by water hazards, making shot accuracy once again paramount to a good score. The Mare Course is the most exciting of the 3 nines.

The Sole Course features island green, beach bunkers, and plays around a blue lake. This makes the nine both visually appealing and challenging. Also unique to this nine is the presence of seven par-4’s and only one each, par-3 and par-5.  Most golfers prefer to avoid the Sole Curse for this unconventional routing.  In any case, this nine is still attractive with a series of natural water hazards and challenges.

As expected of a private members club the Twin Doves facilities are all 5-star. Locker rooms, practice areas, and probably the best pro-shop in Saigon all enhance the enjoyment of golf at twin Doves. The international restaurant serves a variety Vietnamese, Asian and Western fare but specializes in Korean dishes for most of the membership. Open air overlooking the golf course as well as air-conditioned dining options are provided to ensure enjoyment by all visiting Saigon golfers.

Long Thanh Golf Resort

Long Thanh Golf Resort
36 holes par 72 (7011/7056 yards)
Addresss: Tan Mai Village, Phuoc Tan Commune, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province

Beautiful Ron Fream design considered the South's #1 course
The Long Thanh Golf Club offers 36 holes of golf in the former rice paddies and scenic countryside surrounding Saigon. The Ho Chi Minh City golf course is located 30 kilometers north of the city on a hilly with unobstructed views back towards the Vietnamese capital.

Both the Hill and Lake course are well maintained throughout the year and the golf courses are a longtime favorite among locals. Many expatriates and Vietnam golf visitors prefer Long Thanh Golf Club over its more famous neighbor Vietnam Golf & Country Club.

The Hill Course features rolling fairways and large undulating greens. Each hole is framed by large oil palms. The Lake Course is characterized by many high lipped bunkers and water hazards on almost every hole to catch errant shots. Both courses feature Paspalum grassed fairways and tee boxes. Putting greens use Tifdwarf Bermuda grass which can roll anywhere from 8 to 10 on the stimp meter. This combination of grasses matches other top courses in the region. The rough at Long Thanh is cut relatively short and poses no real challenge.

All 36 holes have their own character shape and this wide variety makes for good challenges for both serious amateurs and professional golfers. Higher handicappers might prefer the Lake Course however, which is relatively flatter.

Hole 13, a par-3 on the Hill Course is the signature hole and features a choice two greens equally good. Both require accurate tee shot as there is out-of-bounds at the back of the longer green. The shorter green is possibly even more difficult surrounded by the 'Great Wall of Long Thanh', with club selection being of prime importance, as there is water guarding the front and a rock face behind the green. This is a once seen never forgotten hole.

Another great hole at Long Thanh is the par-5, 14th hole on Hill Course. The longer you hit the ball, the tighter the fairway gets. If you can't reach the green in two shots, the lay-up shot requires real accuracy as there is out-of-bounds on the right and a lake on the left. There are frequently some big scores on this hole.
Both the Lake and Hill Courses are walking courses with single or shared golf carts being optional. Caddies, of whom 50% are male, are very good as most have been employed at Long Thanh for 5 or more years and some are even single handicappers themselves.

The Long Thanh Golf Club and Residential Estate have also spared no expense to build an elaborate clubhouse. The locker and changing rooms might be the plushest in Saigon. Ask for a shoe shine after your round. The pro shop is adequate, but often only stocked with a fleeing selection of merchandise. The main restaurant serves a fine selection of both Vietnamese and Western food for golfers after their rounds in both indoor and outdoor setting. It might be better however if the restaurant were more centrally located to take advantage of the excellent views of the Saigon skyline.

Overall, golf at Long Thanh is an impressive experience and is sure to please all Vietnam golfers.

Vietnam Golf and Country Club

Vietnam Golf & Country Club
36 holes par 72/72 (7106/6946 yards)
Address: Long Thanh My ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Home of the Vietnam Masters & Asian Tour Events
Located just 17 kilometers from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Golf & Country Club is one the nearest golf clubs to the city center.  Vietnam Golf & Country Club is set amongst 300 hectares of land and is comprised of two championship golf courses. Bothe courses have been carved out of existing woodlands with minimal land movement. Golfers at Vietnam Golf & Country Club get the feeling that the land was destined to be a golf course, so natural is the lay-out and design.

Open since November 1995, the 7,106-yard West Course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club features narrow tree-lined fairways and fast level greens. The par-72 championship course was Taiwanese designed and hosted the Vietnam Open Asian PGA Tour events in both 1995 and 1997.

The course winds its way through mostly oil palm trees offering challenging tee shots to narrow landing areas. Several holes also feature a lone tree in the center of the fairway. Bermuda Tifeagle greens provide beautiful putting surfaces all year round. The West Course’s difficulty lies in its championship length. Only single-digit handicap players should play off the back tees. Even from the normal men's tees this course can provide a very long afternoon of golf, especially if drives are not on target.

One of the best holes is the 11th. A long 408 yard par-4, the hole is dogleg to the left. The tee shot must carry over trees on the left to have sight of the green. The second shot is complicated by a large tree on the center of the fairway and bunkers on both sides of the green. The slightly elevated green is shallow and wide, so an approach shot must have some spin on it to hold the green.

The second course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club is the 6,946-yard East Course.  Designed by Lee Trevino and opened in 1997, the East Course offers more generous fairways than the West Course but is protected by 110 well-positioned bunkers, water hazards and undulating fast-rolling Bermuda Tifdwarf greens. The layout is so challenging even a seasoned tour pro will think twice before "going for it." The East Course’s undulating greens are the undoing of many an unsuspecting player. To score well on this course,  golfers must play smart and set-up  good approach shots to give relatively straight putts - which is something easier said than done on these greens. Many a side bet have been won or lost due to the putting skills of the golfer.

The clubhouse is spacious and well-maintained like a private club. The large locker and changing rooms include Japanese showers and dry and wet saunas for a welcome treat after any round. Two clubhouse restaurants serve a good range of food items, with the local Vietnamese noodle soups being highly recommended. The pro shop is one of the best stocked in Vietnam with new and used equipment, great selections of golf apparel, and all of the latest balls and gloves.

While Vietnam Golf & Country Club is technically a private golf club with priority to locals and expatriates. However,  weekday play, when the course is least crowded, is open for visitor bookings. Both the East and West Courses are good choices for a day golfing in Saigon.
